3 Ιουν 2020 · Bullying is associated with negative health outcomes such as depression. Most studies target non-Latinxs, though they often experience higher rates of bullying and depression. This review examines the inclusion of Latinxs in studies of bullying and depression and factors unique to them.
In a sample of Hispanic and non-Hispanic sexual minority youth, the association between bullying victimization and suicide attempts was strongest in non-Hispanic youth, suggesting that ethnic identity or Hispanic culture might be protective (LeVasseur, Kelvin, & Grosskopf, 2013).
In this study, we investigate whether parent-child communication about bullying is occurring in Hispanic families, and if so, whether this communication is related to daughters’ reported experiences of bullying perpetration and victimization experiences.
