27 Αυγ 2018 · Histamine shows a dichotomous nature, whereby it is able to promote inflammatory and regulatory responses that contribute to pathological processes, such as allergy induction, as well as homeostatic functions, such as intestinal regulation. In this review, we summarize recent findings about the regulation of the immune response by histamine.
Given the impact of histamine on gastrointestinal epithelial and immune cells, simultaneous modulation of the H1R and H2R signaling pathways may be a promising therapeutic approach for the prevention and treatment of inflammation-associated gastrointestinal cancer.
Long-term anti-TNF-alpha treatment significantly increased circulating levels of histamine in RA patients. Our experiments on animals show that histamine on its own neither induces inflammation in the joint cavity nor influences the course of HMGB1 and peptidoglycan-induced joint inflammation.
26 Απρ 2017 · Histamine H4 receptor (H4R) has immune-modulatory and chemotaxic effects in various immune cells. This study aimed to determine the osteoclastogenic role of H4R in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The concentration of histamine in synovial fluid (SF) and sera in patients with RA was measured using ELISA.
Research from San Diego, published in the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, shows that histamine is not only involved in allergies but that it also has a role in potentiating inflammation in...
7 Ιουν 2018 · H1-antihistamines block H1-receptors of histamine, which is an important mediator of MCs. There is a lack of data on whether H1-antihistamines can influence OA. We hypothesized that the use of H1-antihistamines may be linked to the reduced prevalence of knee OA.
