Badoc Island is an uninhabited island located about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) off the shore of Barangay Pagsanahan in Badoc, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. The island is a popular surfing spot in northern Philippines.
Badoc is a coastal municipality in the province of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Region (Region I), Philippines. It has a population of 32,530 (2020 Census figures) distributed over 31 barangays.
Badoc, Philippines is named after the abundant "badok-badok" plant. It was first settled by the Tingguian tribe and explored by Spanish in 1572. The town church houses the Virgen Milagrosa, believed to have miraculously arrived by sea in 1620. She is the patroness of Ilocos Norte province.
History. Origin of Badoc 1572. The derivation of the town's name is a strange tale. In 1572, during the intensive Christianization of the Ilocos Regime, a boatload of Spanish missionaries and soldiers topped at the mouth of the Badoc River to establish camp in the area which is now the town proper.

5 Μαΐ 2012 · First and foremost, the town of Badoc is the birthplace of an illustrious master: Juan Luna, a 19th century Filipino painter, sculptor and a political activist of the Philippine Revolution. His family’s home, which burned down in 1861, was restored in 1977 by First Lady Imelda Marcos.
