Self proclaimed emo bands revive the emo genre, but bring about great changes to it while doing so. The genre loses its visceral qualities for a more poetic, complex and emotional approach that speaks of daily situations like love, heartbreak, depression, and other complex emotions and situations.
This is a really nice and subjective depiction of the history of post-hardcore/emo, you’re a bloody legend.

1 Μαρ 2023 · Emo, then known as emocore, first appeared in Washington D.C.’s hardcore punk scene in the 1980s. Cited as the first emo act, Rites of Spring took inspiration from the punk band Minor Threat and expanded upon hardcore conventions by combining rock with deep, sentimental lyrics.
Let's start by reminding ourselves of what defines each wave of emo. You can skip ahead if you already know all this, but just in case some people either didn't know, forgot, or just want to hear it from a different perspective, here's a quick recap of the history of emo from the 80's to the 2000's.
History. Hardcore punk band Minor Threat in 1981. Predecessors. Pet Sounds, the Beach Boys ' 1966 album, is sometimes considered the first emo album. According to music writer Luke Britton, such assertions are perhaps stated "wryly", and wrote that "it's generally accepted that the genre's pioneers" came later in the 1980s.
