The history of Grand Blanc traces back to the early 19th century when a French pioneer named Laurent Dicksen established a trading post on the banks of the Flint River. The area was then known as "Grand Blanc" due to the presence of a large, white sandy plateau located nearby.
Grand Blanc is a city in Genesee County in the U.S. state of Michigan and a suburb of Flint. The population was 7,784 as of the 2020 US Census. It is part of the Flint metropolitan area. The unincorporated village of Grand Blanc, or Grumlaw, was a former Indian campground first settled by Jacob Stevens in spring 1822.
The history of Grand Blanc dates back to the early 19th century when it was first settled by European-Americans. The name “Grand Blanc,” meaning “Great White,” was derived from the dense white pine forests that once covered the area.
