A History of the Korean Language is the first book on the subject ever published in English. It traces the origin, formation, and various historical stages through which the language has passed, from Old Korean through to the present day.
This special issue aims to critically engage the notion of Korean culture and reflect on what has been at stake in producing knowledge about it, from within Korea and from outside, for Koreans and for non-Koreans.
