Located at the mouth of Salt Lake City's Emigration Canyon, Utah's Hogle Zoo is a 42-acre (17 ha) Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) accredited facility.
Through our close partnership with HUTAN, Utah’s Hogle Zoo has been working to help the Bornean orangutan thrive in their ever-changing natural habitat. Projects include constructing bridges over rivers to mitigate deforestation, research how orangutans adapt to large palm oil plantations, and invest in community education.
7 Απρ 2018 · Over spring break, I visited the Hogle Zoo, observing the three Bornean orangutans who live there. Mia (pronounced MY-ah) is an approximately 30-year-old ‘easygoing’ male who spent some time attempting to get comfortable in a large basket, holding a pink blanket and a large head of lettuce.
