Hotel Figueroa (also the Figueroa Hotel, colloquially The Fig) is a hotel building in the South Park district of Downtown Los Angeles. Originally opened as a hostelry exclusive to women, the hotel underwent a transformation into a Moroccan-themed space in the 1970s before being restored to its initial Spanish Colonial architecture in 2014.
Hotel Figueroa boasts a rich history deeply rooted in the women’s movement in Los Angeles. The hotel was the largest commercial building funded by women for women when it opened in 1926 by the YWCA as a safe haven for solo female travelers, who were prohibited from checking into most hotels without a male chaperone.

15 Νοε 2013 · Construction began in 1925. The hotel was finished ahead of schedule, and dedicated on August 14, 1926, with a night of dance and entertainment. More than 300 guests, including representatives of practically every woman's club in Los Angeles, filled the hotel's new Fountain Ballroom.
