One of the most visited sites on Aegina is the church of miracle healer Agios Nektarios (Saint Nectarios) and the monastery of Agia Triada (The Holy Trinity) that is located on a higher level overlooking the church.
Saint Nektarios of Aegina, is the most widely known of Greek Orthodox Saints of the last two centuries. He was born in October 1st, 1846 in Selybria in Eastern Thrace (now in Turkey). He was one of seven children of Dimosthenis and Mpalou Kefalas and at Holy Baptism was given the name Anastasios.

Today 14 nuns live in the Monastery of Agios Nektarios. Close to the Monastery, there is an imposing church, dedicated to the Saint. The church has two high bell towers and four series of windows, all covered with red bows. Following the steps up, you reach the church of the Holy Trinity.
The Holy Monastery of Holy Trinity - Saint Nektarios is located in Aegina, in the area of Xantos, near the village of Kontos. Access to the monastery can be done either by car, bus or taxi, as it is only 6 km from the port.
His body was taken to the Holy Trinity Convent, where he was buried by his best friend Savvas of Kalymnos, who later painted the first icon of Nectarios. [ citation needed ] The funeral of Nectarios was attended by multitudes of people from all parts of Greece and Egypt.
