19 Ιαν 2024 · Costco is no stranger to produce-related complaints, with shoppers repeatedly taking to the internet to report quality issues. Now, warehouse club members are expressing their qualms with yet another item in the produce department.
Costco has so many apple varieties but I have yet to find anything good. In Pacific Northwest they have: Gala, Juici, Honeycrisp, Fuji, CosmicCrisp, Envy. Envy, Cosmic crisp and Juici are recent varieties and generally disappointing when I tried a year ago. Not sure if they improved.
18 Ιαν 2024 · Some shoppers have reported myriad issues with Costco's Honeycrisp supply. According to these customers, the colors of the apples aren't right (they're totally red as opposed to a speckled red and yellow), the apples are too soft, and they're not as sweet as they're supposed to be.
New Zealand apples are only sold in the US from May to September so if you buy New Zealand apples you'll use less carbon and be buying fruit that is fresher.
Honey crisp apples were $10/9 for that same container a year ago. I don't get why these are so expensive. Organic. If you can find them (which won't be at Costco), Junami apples are amazing. Yeah in Washington about $2.99lb is a good price for organic honeycrisp. Since they can weigh nearly a pound each this is probably a pretty solid deal.
