The Iowa State Fairgrounds is located on the east side of Des Moines, Iowa, United States. It annually hosts the Iowa State Fair in late summer. The state fair was begun in Iowa in 1854 and the current fairgrounds were established in 1886.

Iowa State Fairgrounds. For 11 days in August, we are the Iowa State Fair, but for the other 354 days of the year, the Iowa State Fairgrounds is home to auto shows, livestock exhibitions, flea markets, antique shows, concerts, trade shows and more.

Friday – Saturday: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM. Please Note: Weapons and alcohol are NOT permitted on the fairgrounds.
