It is divided by Union Pacific Railway tracks traveling from northeast to southwest and is the birthplace of William Jefferson Clinton, the fortieth and forty-second governor of Arkansas and the forty-second president of the United States.

First settled in 1852, Hope is a thriving community located in the southwest corner (view in Google) of Arkansas. We are 120 miles southwest of the capital city Little Rock, 25 miles northeast of Texarkana USA, and 90 miles north of Shreveport, Louisiana.
The society is housed at the historic Depot Museum in downtown Hope. The museum displays artifacts, photos, and documents related to the county’s native American inhabitants, as well as its early settlers and their subsequent development of the area.
The Arkansas Historical Quarterly, established in 1942, is the scholarly journal of the Arkansas Historical Association. It publishes research on every aspect of Arkansas's history, from earliest human habitation to the twenty-first century.
