Hoppes 9 is the definition of “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” saying in the gun oil industry. Hoppes has been around since 1903 and has repeatedly proven its merit on this list. Old faithful!

17 Ιουν 2014 · The Hoppe's is my main lubricating oil. I have also used BreakFree CLP for many years, which works well in cleaning. I have a free sample bottle of the red Lucas Gun Oil. They claim it was tested on M2 .50 cals for thermal resistance.

When buying good gun oil, it's advisable for the buyer to conduct testing to ensure its effectiveness and suitability for their specific needs.
Hoppe's oil is good for cleaning carbon and other junk from real guns; that is, it aggressively attacks and solvates (dissolves) lots of polar compounds. EDIT: and if memory serves, that stuff stinks and the vapors sting the eyes.
1 Σεπ 2011 · It has worked beautifully so far, but I'm curious as to whether or not No. 9 has any ill effect if left on the gun. It bills itself as a solvent, not a lubricator. Could I experience any nastiness by missing a spot? The Elite Oil is working spectacularly!
