Hosta "Sum It Up" review. A sport of Hosta 'Sum and Substance' with an edge. Same as Hosta 'Bottom Line'. A Hosta 'Sum and Substance' mutation--it has huge green centered leaves with a 1/4" gold margin. The leaves have a smooth shiny texture and extremely thick substance. The lavender flowers are borne on 36"+ scapes.

Does anyone have both Leading Lady and Sum It Up and can tell me the subtle differences between them? I was digging up hostas at the old house to move to the new place and was very careful about keeping them with their labels.

This tissue culture sport of H. 'Sum and Substance' was registered by Mark Zilis of Illinois in 1999. It forms a giant size mound about 31 inches tall by 72 inches wide. The foliage is broadly oblong to ovate, wavy, convexly cupped, slightly corrugated and somewhat unruly with thick substance.
