11 Οκτ 2022 · In most children with reactive arthritis, the symptoms resolve within 3 to 12 months. Though the prognosis of reactive arthritis is generally very good, some children have recurrent episodes of joint inflammation.
Reactive arthritis is a type of arthritis caused by an infection. It may be caused by Chlamydia trachomatis, salmonella, or another infection. The condition may cause arthritis symptoms, such as joint pain and inflammation. It may also cause symptoms in the urinary tract and eyes.

The most common symptom of reactive arthritis is pain, stiffness and swelling in the joints and tendons, most commonly the knees, feet, toes, hips and ankles. In some people it can also affect the: genital tract – causing pain when peeing, or discharge from the penis or vagina
Typically, reactive arthritis occurs around 7–10 days after the acute illness and spontaneously remits within 2–3 weeks of onset; gastrointestinal infections may cause a reactive arthritis but in the older patient sexually acquired infection needs to be sensitively explored.
Reactive arthritis occurs when the body’s immune system reacts to a recent infection, usually within the past four to six weeks, with joint swelling and pain. The child has recovered from the infection and, several weeks later, develops the signs of reactive arthritis.
The most common reactive arthritis symptoms are joint pain and stiffness, especially in your: Lower back. Knees. Ankles. Feet. But you may also have a variety of other symptoms, including: Eye pain with swelling and redness. Gastrointestinal symptoms, like stomach pain and diarrhea. Needing to pee more frequently and pain when you pee.
