Describe how an image is formed by a plane mirror. Distinguish between real and virtual images. Find the location and characterize the orientation of an image created by a plane mirror.
The four steps of the process for drawing a ray diagram are listed, described and illustrated below. 1. Draw the image of the object. Use the principle that the object distance is equal to the image distance to determine the exact location of the object.
In the case of a plane mirror, the image is formed by the reflection of light rays. When an object, such as the man, stands in front of the mirror, light rays from the object reflect off the mirror’s surface.
Illustrate image formation in a flat mirror. Explain with ray diagrams the formation of an image using spherical mirrors. Determine focal length and magnification given radius of curvature, distance of object and image.

26 Ιαν 2023 · A physical object is placed in front of the reflective surface of the plane mirror. The horizontal dashed line that is perpendicular to the mirror is known as the optical axis, a reference from which we measure the heights of the objects and images formed. Figure 10.3.1: Image Formation by Plane Mirror.
Explain with ray diagrams the formation of an image using spherical mirrors. Determine focal length and magnification given radius of curvature, distance of object and image. We only have to look as far as the nearest bathroom to find an example of an image formed by a mirror.
