CDC recommends a single dose of RSV vaccine for older adults to help prevent serious RSV infection and hospitalization. RSV vaccination is recommended for the following adults: All adults ages 75 and older. Adults ages 60–74 at increased risk of severe RSV disease.

But they’re typically mild and only last a week or two. Most people are able to manage mild RSV symptoms at home with rest, fluids and acetaminophen (Tylenol, others).

That can cause pneumonia (lung infection) or bronchiolitis (swelling of small airways of the lungs). Lower respiratory tract disease caused by RSV is more dangerous for infants and older adults.
