The Old Testament has anywhere from 200-400 prophecies that were fulfilled by Jesus. Although scholars differ on the number, the sheer unlikeliness that one person could fulfill all of these prophecies point to the fact that Jesus is indeed the true Messiah.
Though the Hebrew Scriptures contained more than three hundred specific prophecies about the promised Messiah, Jesus was not what anyone expected. The Jews wanted Him to overthrow the Romans and establish His Kingdom by force. They didn’t want a King in a manger, a Deity in a body, or a Messiah in a cloak of humility.
