Elihu (Hebrew: אֱלִיהוּא ’Ĕlīhū’, 'my God is he') is a critic of Job and his three friends in the Hebrew Bible's Book of Job. He is said to have been the son of Barachel and a descendant of Buz, who may have been from the line of Abraham ( Genesis 22:20–21 mentions Buz as a nephew of Abraham).

4 Ιαν 2022 · Elihu was one of Job’s friends—not one of the three who had come to comfort Job at the beginning of the book, but one who arrives later and offers the last and longest single speech to Job. Elihu is identified only as the “son of Barakel the Buzite, of the family of Ram” (Job 32:2).
He was angry at Job because he justified himself rather than God; he was angry also at Job’s three friends because they had found no answer, though they had declared Job to be in the wrong. Now Elihu had waited to speak to Job, because they were older than he.
Elihu, in the Hebrew Bible, a comforter of Job, the biblical prototype of undeserved suffering. Because Elihu’s speech, which appears in the Book of Job (chapters 32–37), differs in style from the rest of the work and because he is not mentioned elsewhere in it—as the other three comforters.
Elihu. rebuked both Job and his three friends. He was angry at Job for defending himself rather than God, and he was angry at Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar for failing to provide an answer for Job. During his lengthy speech, Elihu shifted the focus away from Job to God as the only source of certainty and hope.

He exalted God’s justice and majesty, acknowledged that God was his only hope, and then asked God to show him anything that he had done wrong. Job laid it all out and awaits a response.
