If that means Hopper or whatever is the app of the day, this leaves you more or less helpless. It's fine to use whatever app you like to look for deals, but always book directly with the airline. Even if it's not the same price, it's rarely worth straying.
To answer your question, the Hopper App is NOT trustworthy. They need to update their FAQ topic, "Is booking with Hopper safe?" (https://support.hopper.com/hc/en-us/articles/217134837-Is-booking-with-Hopper-safe-), with a big fat no. Booking with Hopper is a gamble at best, and sometimes you may even be charged 3x the listed fare on the app.
