Yes, this course was created by the 36 county sheriffs in Oregon and is accepted as a form of safety handgun training that is needed to apply for a CHL and/or Permit to Purchase (PTP).
The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office offers an online option for individuals who want to apply for a concealed handgun license and need to meet the handgun training requirement set by ORS 166.291(1)(f). Completion of this training satisfies the Oregon educational requirement for handgun safety training to obtain your concealed handgun license.

During the application process, the applicant will be asked to schedule an appointment for a New or Transfer Concealed Handgun License application. Please read the requirements section below to make sure you have all the information required for applying for a Concealed Handgun License.
All applications for all CHLs will be submitted through a secure third party software called Permit Direct by Permitium. This means that you can fill out the application from your computer or smartphone 24 hours a day.
