As DZAUTO said, you can use a small journal 327 block, a 283 crank, and 302 pistons to make a 302. Or a later block with bearing spacers. Also "DZ" was not the only correct designation for a 302.
The common direction to achieve 302 is de-stroking the 4.00 bore 327 with a 283 3.00 stroke crankshaft, the other way is to bore a 283 from 3.875 to 4.000, for a total of 301.59 CID. I've heard the arguments....that you cannot take a 283 to 1/8" over.

The heads use a 60cc combustion chamber. Plugged into our compression ratio program, that puts your flat-top 283 at 9.35:1 which is pretty good.
21 Μαρ 2022 · I'm building a 302. 283 block (bored to 4.00") 3.00" forged crank. I want to use 6.00" rods. now the snag- Pistons with a standard deck height 9.015 block-6" rods 1.5 stroke, I need 1.5 compression height pistons.
19 Οκτ 2006 · To make a 327 out of a 283 block requires boring the block to 4" and using a 327 CRANKSHAFT, not rods. As far as I know, the rods are the same. You can accomplish the same thing by using a 350 block and a large journal 327 crank or a 307 crank.
