We are going to explore the Ratio-Proportion Method, one of these three methods, in more detail. Ratio-Proportion Method allows us the ability to compare numbers, units of measurement, or values.
Understanding how to properly calculate dosage is important for nurses. This video provides additional information on the Formula or Desired Over Have method of dosage calculations.
As the nurse, you’ll perform medication calculations to ensure the correct dose of a prescribed medication is administered. The three methods for drug calculations are basic formula, also called Desired over Have; ratio and proportion; and dimensional analysis. Let’s take a deeper look into the basic formula method.
