Insulin therapy is the mainstay of treatment for clinical DM. The guidelines provide rec-ommendations for each insulin formulation currently available for use in dogs and cats, the choice of which is generally based on efficacy and duration of effect in the respective species. In dogs, the initial recommended Caninsulin dose is 0.5 to 1.0 IU/kg, given once or twice daily, as appropriate, following assessment via a blood glucose curve.

First thing in the morning before eating and receiving Vetsulin®. 2.Right after the patient eats and receives Vetsulin® at home.
