Some World Quests drop gear for you, so just complete the quest and boom, instant new gear. World Quests drop gear from ilvl 145+, but it scales with both your item level and your Renown (at Renown levels 10, 16, and 29), so be sure to do some other content to get both your Renown and your ilvl up.
The easiest way to get gold is through the mission table (available for unlock early on in the covenant campaign) with the addon TLDR Missions, and doing your daily callings. However, I think just doing callings is pretty boring.
