Minimize or expand the ribbon, hide or show the folder pane, group or ungroup mail folders, reposition or hide the reading pane, customize the item lists, and change the font size of incoming messages.
When you want to increase the amount of space in the Outlook window for viewing messages, calendars, or tasks, you can turn off the folder pane. Click View > Folder Pane, and then click Off. To turn it back on, repeat the steps, but click Normal. You can also free up space in the Outlook window by minimizing the Folder Pane.

This pane does contain a couple of options and other “secrets” to fit it to your style and work with it more efficiently. Toggle the Folder Pane. With ALT+F1 you can enable/disable the Folder Pane.
