This allows you to use GBA Virtual Console injections and MUCH (!) more. The possibilities in DS mode (Acekard) are limited in comparison to 3DS mode. For GBA games there is GBARunner2. It might work from the Acekard.
open_agb_firm is a bare metal interface for natively running GBA games and homebrew using the 3DS's built-in GBA hardware. open_agb_firm is also a complete and better alternative to GBA VC injects (AGB_FIRM), allowing for: Launching GBA files directly from the SD card; Writing save files directly to the SD card
The downside is unlike an emulator, you can't remap buttons, use save states, or any other nifty things either the Virtual Console emulators or homebrew emulators allow you to do. You also can't put the console to sleep by closing it while running GBA games.

3DSX - Use the .3dsx provided with the Homebrew Launcher. ROMs can be placed anywhere on your SD card. Supported formats include GBA, GB, GBC, ELF, AGB, MB, ROM, BIN and SGB.
