Drilling a drive point well is an effective and economical way to access groundwater for various purposes, such as irrigation or household use. Drive point wells, also known as sand-point wells, consist of a screen and a drive point that are driven into the ground to reach the water table.
Drive the well point and pipe into the earth. Remove the drive cap and add pipe* as required using drive couplings. Rotate clockwise from time to time using a pipe wrench to ensure tight couplings. Drive until water table has been penetrated five to ten feet. CAUTION: DRIVE ONLY WITH DRIVE. CAP ON!
3 Ιουλ 2024 · A Well Point, also known as a Drive Point, is a small-diameter well used for dewatering purposes. It consists of a shallow shaft, a dewatering pump, a riser pipe, and a small well that fills with water.
This is a demonstration of how the drilling phase of a well-point is done with basic set-up.
To properly drive your well point, the entire point must be below the water table or else the pump will only suck up air. Something to keep in mind, is that the water table will eventually lower as the pump runs, so the point will have to be lower than what the pump can draw the water table down to.
2 ημέρες πριν · Attach one end of the black flex pipe to the check valve attached to the pump. Attach the other end of the black flex hose to the well point side. Securely attach both ends with hose or pipe clamps, and you're ready to go. Photo by the author, showing where the 50-year-old point had been.
Here we define driven point wells & describe how a driven point water well is constructed. We discuss why water flow and pressure are ultimately lost from a driven point well and we explain how to restore water flow (sometimes) without having to construct a new well.
