I use Google docs for general note taking, particularly for work, and I would like to share some notes on how I do it. Any suggestions are appreciated. One thing I learned after some failed starts, is that I should not create a new doc for every new note, like you could do in Google Keep or even in Evernote.
Change the word "edit" at the end of your template doc's URL to "copy" and save the altered URL as a bookmark. When you open it you'll get a prompt to make a copy. This is fast and you'll never accidentally overwrite your template.
Although Google Docs does offer a wide range of templates to choose from for free accounts, they don't cater to everyone's needs. To create a custom template you can reuse multiple times, you'll have to use this little workaround to generate them.
