I recently downloaded the game from old games download, fixed the rectangle shadow issue and the resolution, but my sims just show up as black. I tried turning shadows off but it didn’t work, as well as playing around with other graphics settings.
2 Ιαν 2016 · There are a few ways to fix this. The easiest is to just change the graphics settings to medium. This will change shadow quality for everything else too, but its a quick and easy fix.
27 Απρ 2016 · There are 3 ways to fix this: If you don’t mind mods, then download the Sim Shadow Fix Mod by Nopke. It will remove the black boxes + keep the Sim Shadows.
21 Απρ 2024 · Since we unticked the disable sim shadows in Graphics Rules Maker, we're likely going to see black boxes under sims' feet. However, with this mod by Nopke, we can fix the shadows and make them look nicer without having to disable them.
If you are playing The Sims 2 nowadays, you need to run the Graphics Rules Maker program to add your video card to the games database and modify your graphics rules for you. You also need to apply the 4GB patch. You will need the shadow fix mod if you have black shadow boxes and the bright CAS fix mod if you have a too bright or too dark CAS.
First things first, here's my finished Graphics Rules file that includes fixes to a lot of visual things (black boxes, neighborhoods, resolution stuck at 800x600 etc): https://www.simfileshare.net/download/718116/ Simply just replace your Graphics Rules file with mine and you're good to go. MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR OWN JUST IN CASE.
