Wait for the popup selector to appear. Slide up and onto the special character or symbol you want to insert. Let go. List of special characters and symbols available on iOS.
If the Apple external keyboard you use with iPad doesn’t include accents and other diacritical marks for the language you’re typing, you can use an Option key modifier or the onscreen keyboard to enter those marks. Use the Option key to enter a diacritical mark for a character.

3 Νοε 2011 · Simply go to Settings → General → Keyboard → Shortcuts, and tap the + button to add a new keyboard shortcut. Basically, this is the same functionality that OS X’s System Preferences → Language & Text → Text → Symbol and text substitution offers.
