5 Μαρ 2022 · I had a long call with Apple Support yesterday. They recommended un-checking the "Automatically rearrange Spaces based on most recent use" (Number 1 below) and checking the "Displays have separate Spaces" (Number 2 below) under the Mission Control in the System Preferences.
You can extend your desktop across two or more displays, and choose which display shows the Finder and application menu. If more than two displays are connected, you can specify that some use video mirroring and others use an extended desktop.
Go To Apple menu > System Preferences > Displays and then click Display Settings. In Resolution settings select Default For Display. You can then restart your Mac normally and your external display resolution and refresh rate will be restored to the previous setting.
