  2. 16 Φεβ 2017 · You can feel it when you twist a barrel nut on that has a tight fit - almost grinds. I think most of this has to do with surface finishes "mating in" over time under torque. Heat/cool all you want, nothing except a die grinder and a new nut - with some type of anti-siieze - is going to solve it.

  3. 2 Ιουν 2014 · The quickest and easiest way to remove a smooth barrel nut from the factory is to use a pipe wrench and replace it with a slotted or smooth nut. With all the blasting grit and bluing salts they are tough to break loose the first time even with a SSS smooth nut wrench.

  6. 21 Ιουν 2020 · I clamped it in my vise and used my nut wrench getting the nut to where it's about an 8th of an inch past the chamber but now it won't budge either way! I don't want to split the nut if I don't have to. Any ideas on how to go about getting it off. Would heating the nut help?

  7. 11 Ιουν 2017 · Clamped the heck out of it and gave the barrel nut wrench a good wack. Barrel broke free. Since then I've done several Savage barrel nut rifles using same technique. While, it may have taken several hits with my 16 Oz. hammer on the barrel nut wrench, always worked for me.
