An application for a new, renewal, or transfer of a TLC Vehicle License will not be approved if either the vehicle insurance is expired, or does not meet the minimum coverage requirements. Expired or cancelled insurance may result in a TLC directive to submit proof of updated insurance coverage.

What you need to renew online: RENEW ONLINE. When you are finished, you can download and print a temporary registration that’s valid for 10 days after the day you renew. Other ways to renew. Mail the bottom part of your registration renewal notice (MV-3 or OP-3) to the address listed on the notice.
