Schools are free to decide whether their chapter will be a regular History Club (open to all) or a History Honor Society (with specific requirements for induction). The NHC also co-sponsors multiple award programs to recognize outstanding student members, Advisors, and chapters.
The National History Club is just beginning to gain that same credibility and provides new and veteran advisors with ideas about how to start and sustain an active membership. Most importantly, the National History Club demonstrates a commitment to high school historical scholarship and student research that no one can deny.
