Approved in October 2023, the Community Air Protection Program Blueprint 2.0 (Blueprint 2.0) is CARB’s Statewide Strategy and implementation guidance to reduce harmful emissions and exposures to air pollution in communities most impacted by poor air quality. Blueprint 2.0 reflects the experience and lessons learned since the beginning of the Community Air Protection Program (Program).
The solution discussed in this case study visualizes air quality data using an easy to understand color‐ coding system — this allows regulators to see the issues at hand clearly, identify who’s responsible, assess the impacts it has had on the community in real‐time and how to fix the problem.
The following are simple steps to reduce air pollution in California: Walk or ride a bike when possible, take public transportation or carpool. Organize and condense errands into one trip, telecommute if possible, drive less, particularly on days with unhealthy air. Support the Smog Check Program.
CARB has released an updated version of the CARB Pollution Mapping Tool (v2.6) that includes 2021 emissions data for criteria air pollutants, toxic air contaminants and greenhouse gases from large facilities in California.
