3 Δεκ 2019 · TORONTO — Ontario's government is taking action to protect Ontario's air quality and reduce smog-causing pollutants with a new enhanced emissions testing program that will save taxpayers' money.
Providing air quality alerts for communities at immediate risk from air pollution caused by dense wildfire smoke. Working with other levels of government to measure air quality at hundreds of locations across Canada.
Three key actions to improve air quality. 1. Carpool, ride your bike, take the bus or walk more often. Motor vehicles are a major contributor to smog, especially in large urban areas where traffic is heavy. Traffic can contribute to smog year-round, even in the winter. 2.
Toronto Public Health encourages everyone to follow Canada’s Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) for current air quality indicators in Toronto and how to protect your health from air pollution and wildfire smoke.
Smog and Air Health Advisory (SAHA): For situations where the Air Quality Health Index is forecast to reach, or has reached, the high risk category, and is expected to last for at least three hours, a SAHA will be issued.
