26 Σεπ 2024 · Tocotrienols, a form of vitamin E, boast antioxidant properties that help protect cells from damage caused by free radicals—unstable molecules that can contribute to aging and diseases. Research suggests that tocotrienols may support heart health by reducing cholesterol levels and improving blood vessel function.
Current treatment options and prevention strategies for COPD are very limited. Tocotrienols are a group of vitamin E molecules with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Individual tocotrienols (α, γ, and δ) have shown their ability to attenuate inflammation specifically via suppressing nuclear factor-κB-mediated cytokine production.
The vitamin E, i.e. chroman-6-ols collectively tocochromanols (tocopherols + tocotrienols), is generally ingested along with fat-containing foods . Good source are vegetable oils, nuts and nut oil seeds, egg yolk, margarine, cheese, soya beans, wheat germ, oatmeal, avocados, olives, green leaf vegetables, etc. [ 2 ].

12 Νοε 2014 · Tocotrienols are found in certain cereals and vegetables such as palm oil, rice bran oil, coconut oil, barley germ, wheat germ and annatto [7, 8]. Palm oil and rice bran oil contain particularly higher amounts of tocotrienols (940 mg/kg and 465 mg/kg, respectively) [9].
Additionally, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) designated tocotrienol as regarded as safe (GRAS) in April 2000, based on its safety and tolerability. The recommended intake of T3s should be 13–20 mg perday from food.
