26 Σεπ 2024 · A 2022 review of studies found tocotrienols protect the skin from inflammation, UV radiation, and melanin accumulation (patches of skin that become darker than the surrounding skin). Furthermore, tocotrienols may provide even more protection for aging skin than tocopherols and vitamin C, the latter of which is frequently used in skincare.
When taken by mouth: Tocotrienols are possibly safe when used at a dose of 200 mg daily for up to 5 years. They're usually well tolerated.
Given the importance of inflammation and oxidant stress in patients with COPD, tocotrienols with strong antioxidant, anti-inflammatory activities, and safety profiles could be an alternative prevention strategy for the development of COPD.
The vitamin E, i.e. chroman-6-ols collectively tocochromanols (tocopherols + tocotrienols), is generally ingested along with fat-containing foods . Good source are vegetable oils, nuts and nut oil seeds, egg yolk, margarine, cheese, soya beans, wheat germ, oatmeal, avocados, olives, green leaf vegetables, etc. [ 2 ].
Based on the current scientific research, this paper presents the known and sought mechanisms of action of tocopherols and tocotrienols in the prevention of diet-related diseases, their differentiated bioactivity as well as the determinants of distribution and metabolism in humans.

They are supplied in various amounts in a diet, mainly from vegetable oils, some oilseeds, and nuts. The main forms in the diet are α- and γ-tocopherol, due to the highest content in food products.
