PRAYER and FASTING moves the hand that controls the Universe. When a person shuts out the world for a season of prayer, fasting and consecration, it opens the heart of God and the windows of heaven and brings the forces of God into action on your behalf.
• Fasting and prayer can restore the loss of the “first love” for your Lord and result in a more intimate relationship with Christ. • Fasting is a biblical way to truly humble yourself in the sight of God (Psalm 35:13; Ezra 8:21).
Set aside specific and significant time and location to worship and seek God during your fast. Use the normal meal time to take a prayer walk. Follow a Bible reading plan or a devotional/prayer book. 4

During this fast we are seeking the active presence of God to bless our church, resulting in greater intimacy, purity, unity, and power in our witness. During the 21 days between February 1 - 21, we will engage corporately in the “Daniel Fast,” modeled after the fast of the prophet Daniel.
What follows is more than a guide to cultivating the disciplines of prayer and fasting. It is that for sure, but beneath the surface you will find more. The following pages will highlight the importance and power of regularly entering into the presence of God through prayer.
Pray—Spend time reading the Bible before the fast. Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance in your prayers. On pages 7–9, write down your faith goals and specific prayer requests for your family, friends, church, and nation. Commit—Pray about the kind of fast you will undertake and commit to it ahead of time. Record your plan on page 5.
