Howard County Animal Control investigates animal cruelty cases, rescues endangered animals, accepts unwanted pets from Howard County residents, administers a pet adoption program, conducts humane education programs and operates the county’s animal shelter.
To renew a Howard County Animal License for your dog(s), please visit their website or call 410-313-2455, Option 4. Print, complete and sign the Off-Leash Area Application and the Columbia DogPark Acceptance of Risk and Release of Liability Waiver Form.
You must present proof of a valid dog license and current rabies vaccination while at the park using a daily permit. Annual Permits: You may purchase a annual permit for $40. This can be paid for in person at Howard County Rec and Parks, 7120 Oakland Mills Road, Columbia, MD 21046 or mail the application to this location.
An adoption application must be filed in person on the animal that you wish to adopt. An interview and/or home visit must be conducted and approved before the animal is released from the shelter. The maximum holding time on an application to be processed is 48 hours.
LICENSES: All dog and cat owners must purchase Howard County annual licenses for their pets. Each pet shall wear the license tag attached to a collar or harness.
