18 Φεβ 2009 · If you are running more than 14 physical drives in a single RAID Group, HP’s recommendation is to use RAID-6 ADG. With 6 drives in a RAID Group, the failure probability is 1E-10. With 60 drives in a RAID Group, the failure probability is 1E-7.

RAID 6 with HP’s patented Advanced Data Guarding (ADG) technology is a cost-effective solution for storing large volumes of enterprise data with fault tolerance. Its performance, like that of other RAID levels, depends on the nature of the application.
6 Δεκ 2019 · Performance optimization for video on demand. To configure the above features, please refer to the Controller and/or Array Configuration Utility user guide. These features are dependent on the Smart Array Controller model, firmware and number of hard drives installed.
12 Απρ 2019 · This article is to show how to create RAID 6 (ADG) in Smart Array P440 hardware controller and what kind of migration is possible from RAID 6 on this controller. Existing RAID 6 could be migrated to RAID 0 or RAID 5 or RAID 1+0 (so the RAID Level transformation is possible) with different Stip size (any of the supported in the controller) on ...
I was thinking RAID 6 when I bought the enclosure/drives, with the ability to add more later. But in terms of what actual program I should use I have no idea. I’ve also seen that there are some software RAID programs that work quite differently than the usual RAID levels...
9 Δεκ 2018 · RAID support is included for 0, 1/10, 5/50, 6/60, If you run HP’s offline configuration utility (now known as smart storage administrator), you can do much more. It’s a free download that you can boot into.
RAID 6 (ADG), like RAID 5, generates and stores parity information to protect against data loss caused by drive failure. With RAID 6 (ADG), however, two different sets of parity data are used (denoted by P x,y and Q x,y in the figure), allowing data to still be preserved if two drives fail.
