Meet UTRGV's admission requirements and UTRGV School of Nursing Technical Standards policy. Seek university academic advisement each semester regarding prerequisite progression. Have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale in all prerequisite courses.
Two applications are required (one for UTRGV and one for the School of Nursing). We recommend applying via ApplyTexas.org and submitting Official Transcripts to UTRGV Undergraduate Admission at least six weeks before the cycle opens.
Nursing Scholars must have their general education and prerequisite courses completed before entering the nursing program. Nursing Scholars do not need to “apply”to the program but still need complete the HPU Current Student Nursing application by the posted deadlines to indicate their intent to
To be admitted to the RN to BSN Accelerated Online Program, students must: Meet UTRGV’s admission requirements. Have earned an Associate’s Degree in Nursing prior to admission. Submit evidence of current active nursing license in state of residence. Meet School of Nursing Technical Standards policy. Progression requirements for this program.
Priority admission will be given to applicants with only one outstanding general education at the start of the Nursing program. It is highly recommended to complete all general education courses before entry into the nursing program.
Meet UTRGV’s admission requirements. Students must complete 63 hours towards the degree to be officially admitted to the program. The 63 semester credit hours must include the courses needed to apply plus the following courses: The cumulative GPA for the 63 hours completed towards the degree must be a minimum of 3.0 to be considered for admission.
BSN prerequisites include: Minimum Admission Requirements. Be admitted to UTRGV as a Second Degree Student. Students must complete the BSN prerequisites and the courses below to be officially admitted to the program. The cumulative GPA for the prerequisites and the courses above must be 3.0.
