The output of the export includes the main HTS tariff schedule data, including HTS Number, Article Description, Unit of Quantity, General Rate of Duty, Special Rate of Duty, and Column 2 Rate of Duty.
The Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS) sets out the tariff rates and statistical categories for all merchandise imported into the United States. The HTS is based on the international Harmonized System, which is the global system of nomenclature applied to most world trade in goods.
Rates of duty in column 2 apply to products of countries listed in HTS general note 3(b)—at the time this document was posted these countries are: Belarus, Cuba, North Korea, and Russia. What is legal in the HTS and why does it matter?
(a) Rate of Duty Column 1. (i) Except as provided in subparagraph (iv) of this paragraph, the rates of duty in column 1 are rates which are applicable to all products other than those of countries enumerated in paragraph (b) of this note.
