11 Νοε 2009 · Wei Min. The document discusses hub and spoke networks (H&S) for transportation. H&S networks involve nodes (hubs) connected by routes (spokes). Terminals are points for assembling/distributing freight and passengers, and for interchange between modes.
This study presents a biobjective hub-and-spoke (HS) network design model for the global air passenger networks. The model explores the tradeoff between the total airline cost (airline preference) and lost time cost for passengers (user preference) as the model’s objectives.
The concept of the Hub-and-spokes system was to concentrate traffic to one airport- the major hub from smaller national airports (known as the spokes) or other means of transport, and then the gathered group of passengers would be transported from the major hub to another major hub (Bontekoning, ).
1 Ιαν 2018 · The Hub and spoke concept is subject of this paper. Historically, airlines operated highly regulated point-to-point networks which changed towards more profitable operation after the deregulation of the industry.
The Point-to-point model of flying allows to shorten total flight time by eliminating of transfer points. This time can be also reduced by flights in geographically direct directions and increasing the aircraft bloc k speed. In comparison with Hub-and-Spoke model, Point-to-Point model decreases airport dependency. Hub-and-
1 Ιαν 2008 · The hub-and-spoke model is a widely adopted network topology that was popularised in the late 1970s, serving as an economically superior alternative to the existing P2P mode of civil air...
