By imaging a patient in standard anatomical position, a radiologist can build an X-Y-Z axis around the patient to apply body planes to the images. The planes can then be used to identify and locate the positions of the patient’s internal organs.
14 Σεπ 2021 · To view the interior of a body, we expose the organs and structures that are visible when that body is cut open along one of four commonly used sectional planes. These planes are the different directions a body is cut to reveal different views of its internal structures.
28 Οκτ 2021 · An overview of key anatomical planes (e.g. sagittal, coronal, axial) and their clinical relevance.
The anatomical position is further standardized by dividing the body into three anatomical planes. A plane is an imaginary flat surface passing through the body or organ which divides the structure. Frontal (Coronal) Plane: is vertical and extends from one side of the body to the other.
The sagital plane lies vertically and divides the body into right and left parts. The frontal plane also lies vertically and divides the body into anterior and posterior parts.
