A thumbnail version of your profile picture will appear next to your name in different places throughout Facebook. This helps friends identify your posts and comments on Facebook. You can adjust the privacy settings for a photo you've used as a profile picture or cover photo in the past.
Click on your profile picture in the top right, then click Settings and privacy. Click Settings. Click Accounts Center, then click Personal details. Click Contact info or Birthday to update this information for your accounts.
We also use a part of your profile, called your Public Profile, to help connect you with friends and family. Your Public Profile includes your name, gender, username and user ID (account number), profile picture, and cover photo.
