11 Σεπ 2023 · Sessions can be three, four or five weeks long, depending on the programme of work. If one-third of the Member States requests it, the Human Rights Council can decide at any time to hold a special session to address human rights violations and emergencies.
The Human Rights Council is the main intergovernmental body within the United Nations responsible for human rights. Established in 2006 by the General Assembly, it is responsible for strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights around the globe.
Registration and administrative information about the Human Rights Council's 57th session (HRC57) The HRC57 will take place from 9th September to 11th October 2024. NGOs must have UN ECOSOC consultative status to participate in the HRC session itself.
Greece is convinced of the added value and effectiveness of a consensus-based approach regarding human rights, based on international law, and its aim will be to advance the HRC's vital work and to promote international synergy and dialogue with all relevant UN bodies and Member States.
