Aural Study of Vocal Ranges. There are six primary human vocal types: Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Contralto, Tenor, Baritone, and Bass. Soprano is the highest female type, while Bass is the lowest male type. In general, the average human has a vocal range of 1.5–2 octaves, while professional singers can expand it up to 4 octaves.
