Hypertrichosis, also known as werewolf syndrome, is a rare condition characterized by excessive hair growth that may develop all over the body or be isolated to specific areas. Hypertrichosis may be congenital (i.e., present at birth) or acquired (i.e., arising later in life).
In summer 2019, at least 17 Spanish children have developed so-called “werewolf syndrome”, Spain's health ministry has said. Instead of being treated with omeprazole , a drug that helps with gastric reflux, they had received a treatment of minoxidil , a medication against hair loss.
